The Waterhouse prize promotes and recognises excellence in art that depicts natural history, and is open to Australian and International artists of all ages. It is fast becoming one of the richest and most prestigious art prizes in Australia.

It has all the precision of a scientific illustration, identified by its Latin name ‘Agave Americana.var.Marginata’ Parkinson caught the plants characteristic blue-green colour perfectly, and suggested its huge scale by painting only part of it, but letting that part fill the page......
